Suriving another surgery....

This week has been a really long! Evan had surgery on Tuesday to remove his tonsils and adenoids. He also had his ears cleaned out.  He has had many problems over the past couple of months Evan has had problems with snoring, and sleep apnea, among other issues. Needless to say the surgery was much needed. His tonsils and adenoids ended up being HUGE! They also found a random unknown object in his ear.

This week has been a long process getting him back to normal. Evan has had a hard time drinking, and staying awake. We have also fought a fever and throwing up. Hopefully we are on the mend and he will be feeling better soon! We have already seen a major improvement when he sleeps. You can hardly hear him now and the snoring is gone. Lets hope we are done with surgeries for a while!

He was a happy little man at his Pre-Op!

Waiting for them to take him back.

He got to ride in a red wagon. He did so good!

 Sleeping away!

A Different Thanksgiving, but Still Thankful

I started of Thanksgiving by running a Turkey Day 5k with my girl Amber! We finally got to run a race a together and we did AWESOME! We both broke our last 5k record and did better than we hoped to do. We were able to run together almost the entire race. We make a great running team and I can't wait for our next race in two weeks!

Sara unfortunately came down with the flu on Wednesday so we had to skip all family visiting on Thursday. Evan came down with it on late Thursday afternoon. I was determined to make the best of it so I cooked my first Thanksgiving meal. It was a scaled down version but we made it work.

Chad is off on his usual duck hunting trip!

We will be spending the rest of our break lounging around and hoping everyone is well by Monday.

It was different this year but I am extremely thankful for Chad, my kids, family, and friends. I am truly blessed!

Ruuning, Running, Running

I have been doing a good bit of running lately. I am currently running about three days a week sometimes four. I still don't think of myself as a "runner." I might take on the title once I have more races under my feet. I am signed up for several races in the next couple of months.

I am looking forward to doing these races!!!

Thanksgiving Day

December 1

January 13: I am most excited about this one! It will be the longest race I have ever done!

I might be seriously considering doing this one

This has become my slogan lately.

A Trip to the Zoo

We took our first trip to the Atlanta Zoo today. Sara has been begging to go for a while, so Gigi and GaPa bought her tickets for her birthday. If anyone who doesn't know, Sara HATES animals. She screams at anything that is not human. If a dog, cat, bird, lizard or any creature looks at her she has a complete meltdown. Needles too say we were not sure how she was going to react today. She of course totally shocked all of us. She was ecstatic to be there. She LOVED  every animal she saw. She even went into the Reptile house and saw the snakes. Her favorite was the panda and the zebra. She wasn't brave enough to feed the giraffe with Evan but she did go into a petting zoo and really enjoyed it. We had a great time and finshed off our trip with a yummy lunch at The Varsity.

Here are a few pictures from today. Unfortunately the only pictures I was able to take was when we stopped for the carousel and the train ride. Luckily my dad took a ton.

Lately....

We have been EXTREMELY busy!!! This weekend was the first time since September that we did not have to go somewhere. We have spent our time celebrating birthdays, and weddings.  It was so nice and a much needed. We will be picking back up our busy pace this weekend with a birthday celebration and a trip to the Zoo.

My cousin April got married and I was honored to share her special day with her.

The kids had a great time Trick or Treating. We live a huge neighborhood. We ran out of candy by 8:00 and gave out over a 1,000 pieces!!

We had some family pictures taken this weekend by my fabulous brother-in-law and sister. He did a super job and I love them!

Duck season is around the corner!

My new love of running is still in full swing.

Happy Monday!

Beach Trip!!!

Last week was the kids and my fall break. It was entirely too early for me but we did enjoy a fantastic beach trip! We packed up and headed to Fort Walton with my dad and step mom. They were kind  enough to let us tag along on their usual vacation. Chad however doesn't have fall break until next week so he was stuck at home. Here are some picture from our wonderful trip!

 No sand in the eyes!

 Folded ears!

 Cheetos!

Body boards!

Family photo! Minus daddy of course

 We flew a kite!

 Playing on the beach

We tried swimming with no floaties!

Barbie thought we were on a nude beach

We were attacked by some seagulls! If you know Sara at all you know that she doesn't care for any kind of animal. She did get better by the end of the week.

We had to walk pass this fountain at least twice a day. It was always extremely funny to both Sara and Evan that she had no clothes on. They always laughed at the "ugly girls booty"

We enjoyed ourselves and had a great time! Thanks Gigi and Gipa for a great trip!

I did it!!

I ran my first 5k as an adult yesterday! For the past couple of months  I have worked hard for this particular race. I did reach my goal and hit the time I wanted. I might not have been the fastest runner but I was super excited about my time. I was able to run the entire race and did not have to stop and walk or take a break. I am working towards a 10K on Thanksgiving with my girl Amber! I am also hoping to do another 5k in October.

It's been a while since I have posted anything on the blog. I did not realize how long until this morning. We have been super busy!

Sara had her eye surgery a couple of weeks ago and she has recovered nicely. We go back in a few more weeks to change up the prescription and see about the possibility of her no longer wearing the glasses.

We are finally settled into the school year and adjusted to our schedule. We have a fall break in a few weeks and the kids and I are off the to beach! Can't wait!

Evan went on his first hunting trip! He went dove hunting with Chad. He had a blast! Evan loved picking up the birds and getting to go "hunting with daddy"

Did I mention Chad and I are going back to school? We are now working on our Ed.S. degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

So yes we are super busy!!!

Manic Monday

Summer is officially over and we are in back to school mood. The kids are trying to adjust to 6:30am wake ups, We are just about back to our "normal" routine. (whatever that might be) Sara is loving Pre-K and Evan is enjoying his new classroom and teacher.

I have started on a new journey and set a goal for myself. I am working on running a 5k. Someone is encouraging me to run more (Amber)  so I can be their running partner. I am running my first 5k as an adult in September. I am going to see how that goes and before I decide if I want to run anymore than that distance. I'm thrilled to be running after a major foot surgery in December.

Chad is settling good in the new job! He was able to meet all the players and parents tonight. I am exited for him and to see how the upcoming baseball season will go!

Keep Sara in your thoughts next week, she will be having her eye surgery. They are correcting her lazy eyes. The plan is to correct it and hopefully be able to get her out of her glasses.

Hope this week flies by. Today was really long for some reason.

Sara learned to write her name this week!
Evan washed the table with his napkin and sweet tea

I finally hit 3.2 miles! Yay me! I will run a 5k!!!!

3rd Place and Proud!

Today was the annual Georgia State Duck Call Contest. Chad participated for his second year in a row. He did a fantastic job! He blew three great rounds! They were about as perfect as you could get. However the judges just didn't see it that way. We will be happy to take 3rd place and there is always next year. He did walk away with some great prizes. We also were able to spend the day with some great friends! He will be back next year and hope to do even better!

Chad's friend Chris (who taught him every thing he knows) also participated today. He did a great job as well! Notice they were matchers!

Ducks Unlimited Yeti Cooler! One of his prizes :)

Afterwards eating some lunch!

While the judging was questionable Chad did a fantastic job! Can't wait to see how next year goes!

On July 29, 2006 Chad and I begin our life as a married couple! After dating for six years we said "I do" and begin our journey together. The past six years have flown by. We have welcomed two beautiful children into our lives. We live a crazy chaotic life but I would not change anything! I love you and can't wait to spend more years together! Happy Anniversary!

A New Journey

So if you have not heard or seen it on Facebook Chad has accepted a new job! He is now the head baseball coach of Jackson High School! The school is right down the road so we can stay in our  home and I can continue working at my current job.

The past 4 years have been fantastic at Alcovy High School! We have made some really great friends and it will be hard not to be around for the baseball season. I will miss my baseball buddies and the great times we always have.

We are looking forward to our new adventure and I am super proud of Chad. I think he will do a great job! Wish us luck on our new journey!

Go Red Devils!

Summer

I realized today how long it has been since I have posted anything. We are over halfway through our summer break and it has been a fun and busy one!

We started off the summer with an adult only trip to the beach with 15 of our closest friends. This was the first time that Chad and I have left the kids behind to go on a trip. We headed down to the beach for a week. We had a fantastic time!

My sweet Sara then had to have surgery. Sara had one of the two surgeries she will be needing. She had tubes in her ears and adenoids removed.  After a quick recovery she is back to normal. She will be having her second surgery on her eyes on August.

At the end of June one of my best friends and I got the chance to travel to New York with my step-mom. We spent 4 days hitting the streets while she was busy at work. We crammed as much sight seeing as possible. It was a great trip and we are looking forward to our next trip!

We plan on soaking up the sun at the pool for the last few weeks we have before it is back to work time. We have one more beach trip planed in September over fall break.

Weekend Wrap Up

I realized yesterday that is has been a while since I have been on here. We have been really busy over the past few weeks.  We are now officially on Summer Break. We do not have to return to back to work until July 28. (You can be jealous!)  However the summer will fly by. Sara will be having surgery and we have a couple of trips planed.

This weekend was spent in Alabama at my mom's lake house. Here are a couple of pictures.

Random Wednesday

Today is a big day! My baby and little man turns 3! I can't believe he is already 3. I sent him off to school this morning with cupcakes for his friends. We spent the afternoon pool side. We are having his party on Saturday with family.

We took Sara down to Emory today for her consultation with her new eye doctor. She will be having eye surgery later this summer. My wonderful dad was able to go with us and treated us to a yummy lunch at the Varsity!!

This is our new favorite show.

We have until next Friday for Summer Break. Looking forward to out adults only beach trip in a few weeks!
