The Magic Bean

Our dinner conversation about magic beans also known as green beans.

Evan:  “Ohh Mommy, look I found a magic bean”

Me:  “A magic bean?

Evan: “Yes! A magic bean is what made the bean stalk grow really tall all the way to sky”

Sara: “That is what happened to daddy”

Me: “What do you mean Sara?”

Sara: “Daddy ate a magic bean when he was a  little boy and that’s why he is as tall as the sky”

Guess magic beans make you tall?

If its important, you will find a way

On Sunday I completed my first 15k. It was my farthest race ever!

For a crowd of 19,000 plus I have to say it was pretty organized. The route was really hilly. Once you topped one hill you were going up another one.

My goal was to just finish the race, but I was pretty happy with our time too!

It was the Hot Chocolate 15k. While it was way too hot for hot chocolate and a sweatshirt we did get some great stuff for running all those miles.

I ran the race with a Co-Worker, we have been running together for a while now but it was our first race together.

I was hoping to have also ran the race with my child hood BFF and my running soul mate. However she is pregnant so she gets a pass! ( Until about Thanksgiving at least )

I also have to say that this time a year ago I was still recovering from major foot surgery. I was  rolling around on a scooter. After six weeks of recovery and month of re-adjusting I decided to make some changes. The quote/thought below sums it all up!

It's a New Year!

We have officially moved into the 2013 year. The last year seemed to go by incredibly fast and parts of it are a blur to me. However 2012 was a successful year that brought some new changes.

Some highlights from 2012

Chad got a new job as a head coach, which is something he has been working towards.

I survived a major foot surgery, and have started a new journey in the running world

Sara and Evan survived surgeries and are on track to be healthy kiddos

We had our first ever adult trip to the beach with some fantastic friends

I was able to spend a few days in New York City with a great friend and my step-mom

Chad and I have started our final journey of working towards our Specialist Degree

I am looking forward to what the New Year brings. I am not good at setting new years resolutions or goals. I however have a few things that I am working on or want to accomplish this year.

1.  Wash a load of laundry each day. I am horrible at letting it back up!
2.  Completely clean the kitchen before I go to bed at night
3.  Run at least one half marathon
4.  Spend more time enjoying the little things in life with my kids. They are growing up too fast
5.  Be a better wife

Its might not be much to some but these are a few things I plan to work on this year.

Suriving another surgery....

This week has been a really long! Evan had surgery on Tuesday to remove his tonsils and adenoids. He also had his ears cleaned out.  He has had many problems over the past couple of months Evan has had problems with snoring, and sleep apnea, among other issues. Needless to say the surgery was much needed. His tonsils and adenoids ended up being HUGE! They also found a random unknown object in his ear.

This week has been a long process getting him back to normal. Evan has had a hard time drinking, and staying awake. We have also fought a fever and throwing up. Hopefully we are on the mend and he will be feeling better soon! We have already seen a major improvement when he sleeps. You can hardly hear him now and the snoring is gone. Lets hope we are done with surgeries for a while!

He was a happy little man at his Pre-Op!

Waiting for them to take him back.

He got to ride in a red wagon. He did so good!

 Sleeping away!

A Different Thanksgiving, but Still Thankful

I started of Thanksgiving by running a Turkey Day 5k with my girl Amber! We finally got to run a race a together and we did AWESOME! We both broke our last 5k record and did better than we hoped to do. We were able to run together almost the entire race. We make a great running team and I can't wait for our next race in two weeks!

Sara unfortunately came down with the flu on Wednesday so we had to skip all family visiting on Thursday. Evan came down with it on late Thursday afternoon. I was determined to make the best of it so I cooked my first Thanksgiving meal. It was a scaled down version but we made it work.

Chad is off on his usual duck hunting trip!

We will be spending the rest of our break lounging around and hoping everyone is well by Monday.

It was different this year but I am extremely thankful for Chad, my kids, family, and friends. I am truly blessed!

Ruuning, Running, Running

I have been doing a good bit of running lately. I am currently running about three days a week sometimes four. I still don't think of myself as a "runner." I might take on the title once I have more races under my feet. I am signed up for several races in the next couple of months.

I am looking forward to doing these races!!!

Thanksgiving Day

December 1

January 13: I am most excited about this one! It will be the longest race I have ever done!

I might be seriously considering doing this one

This has become my slogan lately.
